Here’s a quick post one of our most gorgeous clients. She was very happy after her hair extensions installed by Helen. She had shoulder length hair but wanted more volume and length. With her we applied the patent-pending Double Ring-Tip extensions to provide free-flowing movement. It’s easy on her stylist as well since it cuts the installation time by almost half! Just gorgeous.

This customer came in because she had installed some bad hair extensions done from a different salon. Her hair was incredibly matted and I couldn’t believe the damage it caused. Her scalp was red and flaky due to the irritation caused by the matted hair pulling away at her scalp. The previous salon that installed hair extensions on this client did not know what they were doing. You don’t just use micro-ring hair extensions on baby fine hair, otherwise it’ll just mat up like in the first photo below. Not only that, for super fine hair like this you don’t install 200 hair extensions, particularly so close together!! Obviously the technician that installed her extensions was simply trying to maximize her profits, with total disregard for the client’s well-being, and had no idea how to strategically place the strand-by-strand hair extensions. This is why proper hair consultation is so important. Needless to say, this client was super happy after we fixed her situation.
We wanted to showcase a few male clients that we serviced this past month. We picked these particular photos to illustrate couple of key points about custom hair systems that our technician does so well. You can have the best hairpiece is the world made out of the finest hair, but if your stylist can’t match your hair density right, or lack the skill to blend your hairpiece properly, what you have is a fool’s gold. I mean what’s the point of having the best hair system money can buy, but not being able to fit it properly? Custom hairpieces isn’t just about the hairpiece itself, the other half of the equation is your stylist! And we have a pretty good one at that. This past couple of weeks we had two students come in for our patented one-on-one course with Helen, our lead instructor. We conducted a two-day hair ventilation course with the student below, teaching her all the various ventilation techniques. She was an excellent student because by the time we were done with her, she mastered the double knot, the single knot, and the half-double quite easily. Awesome job! Now she can repair her client’s hair pieces or hair systems and adjust the density amount accordingly, without having to send it anywhere else for repair! This student below took on the weft application course and the Microchet extensions course. The method we taught her for the weft application was the technique where we incorporate micro-rings for attachment. With the Microchet technique there’s a top-secret way you can remove the Microchet strands WITHOUT breaking the loop. For those of you that learned the Microchet technique elsewhere probably don’t know how to do that. Remember that once you’re a student of us, you’re a student for lifetime. You can come back anytime to visit us for brushing up on your technique anytime for FREE! Hi guys! Last month we had a pretty unique request, as a client wanted to install hair extensions on her dreadlocks! It was our first, but our great hair technician Helen came up with a creative way to latch on the extension hair to the client’s dreadlocks. It took quite the amount of skill, as she literally had to crochet some loose hair extensions to tie & latch on the ends of the dreadlocks. No glue nor micro-rings were used, and needless to say it turned out just like the client envisioned!
Last week we showcased a customer that came to us to fix their current hair system they had purchased from a well known competitor. This week we had a similar case, but these photos are much more apparent than the previous post. How anyone call these a “CUSTOM” hair system is beyond us, because there’s nothing “custom” about it. The density is totally off. The color is off. Everything is off. Luckily for the client, he came to us about 5 weeks ago and got fitted for a custom hair system, the right way! His new hair system arrived, and he came in a few days ago to try it on. He came in wearing his bad hair system as seen below in the first two photos. Just awful right?? So after our hair technician Helen got him fitted with our system, our client was very excited to see what the results would be like. Needless to say he was quite pleased. The gradual color blend, the right grey percentage, the correct density, and 100% custom fitted to the contours of the client’s head. Another happy customer! =) Bad quality custom hairpieces or hair systems are starting to be more prevalent in the market today. More and more clients are coming in to New Hair System for help, as pictured below. A few weeks back, he came in with a hairpiece from a different company, and he was not happy with the quality of it, nor with the fitting.
As you can see by the first photo, you can clearly spot the hair system due to the wrong hair texture, and lack of blending. You can’t really tell by the photo but the hair was too coarse, when the client’s own hair was way too fine. So needless to say, our client came in to get fitted for a new piece, but had to endure wearing his old one until ours arrived. Well it arrived a few days ago and take a look at what we’ve done. It all starts with choosing the right hair density, texture, and of course cutting & blending is as important as the hairpiece itself. Another happy customer! Woot! This past week our hair technician Helen worked her magic again, coming to the rescue of another client who fell victim to the dreaded glue-fusion hair extensions. If you remember our last blog entry, we wrote about organizations wanting to ban these types of bad hair extension techniques.
As you can see below, our client came in with mangled hair, tangled beyond belief due to bad quality hair and the glue residue left behind by the previous extensions. After we got rid of her previous extensions, it was time to give her new beautiful hair extensions, NHS style! Although our client had super short hair we used our special technique and voila, another happy customer! =) We came across an interesting article from BBC where The Trichology Society is calling for a ban on glue-in hair extensions. Apparently in the last two years there has been a 15% increase in the number of women seeking help after damaged hair after using hair extensions. But the article is very specific to mention that the cause is mostly by glue-in hair extensions. Experts want hair extensions using glue banned because they say the bonding is causing traction alopecia, which rips hair out by the roots causing small bald patches. The condition can continue to spread even after treatment is started making the damage irreparable. But of course New Hair System has always known this, and that is why we do NOT promote nor use glue-in hair extensions. As some of you know, the glue-in extensions like Hairlocs uses heated glue or keratin to attach the hair extensions to the client’s hair. You can call it whatever you want to and sugarcoat it any way you want, but at the end of the day you’ve just used GLUE to attach your own hair with the extensions. Here at NHS, we specialize in the strand-by-strand NO-GLUE methods such as the Microchet and the Micro-Ring extensions. It’s much less invasive and subtle technique that does not damage your hair as the glue-in extensions. One of many reasons why our clients keep coming back to us! Dawn Wells who’s best known for her role as ‘Mary Ann’ in Gilligan’s Island, stopped by New Hair System to say hello.
